About

PLEASE NOTE I AM CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE FOR NEW WORK.

Hello. My name is Paul Allworthy (you may have gathered that already) and I am a graphic designer with 5 years’ commercial experience in print and web.

I believe the primary function of design is communication, not just decoration. Of course it needs to look good – this is a given and any designer worth his salt will strive to create striking, attention-grabbing visuals. But design is there to serve a purpose, it is there to solve problems, to convey a message, a concept or an idea, to communicate with its audience. If it fails to do this, then it fails full-stop.

I try to take a multi-disciplinary approach to design and stay well practiced in a variety of media. To be honest the thing I love the most about graphic design is the sheer variety of tasks involved. The creative industries are ever evolving and you never stop learning new things.

LCAD

I spent seven years of my life studying Art & Design in my home town of Leeds, UK. I came out with a National Diploma in Illustration, a Foundation Diploma in Art & Design and a high 2:1 BA(Hons) degree in Visual Communication. Since then I have alternated between agency work and freelancing and have sometimes worked on both at the same time.

I am now self-employed and currently living in Melbourne, Australia. I take on projects from anywhere in the world.

When I am not designing, you will probably find me looking at design websites and design books, boring my friends with typography talk, looking at pictures of old cars or riding around in my girlfriend’s ‘71 VW Kombi. I also co-founded a magazine called Bonafide. Issue 02 came out recently and I’m currently working on no.3. I am responsible for designing the mag and website bonafidezine.com as well as being involved with interviews/writing/editing and overseeing photography shoots. It’s nice to keep busy.
